"Congratulations on the new library, because it isn’t just a library. It is a space ship that will take you to the farthest reaches of the Universe, a time machine that will take you to the far past and the far future, a teacher that knows more than any human being, a friend that will amuse you and console you—-and most of all, a gateway, to a better and happier and more useful life."

"With a library you are free, not confined by temporary political climates. It is the most democratic of institutions because no one - but no one at all - can tell you what to read and when and how."
— Doris Lessing
“This was such a joy I have to share it with everyone –
On Saturday evening the Old Colorado City staff enjoyed a very special holiday treat. The OC3 Teens coordinated a wonderful holiday surprise party for the staff! Under the guise of “a party to celebrate Tiff’s awesomeness as our Teen Liaison” the kids hosted the staff in the community room. They had a potluck, decorated the tables with place-names and treats, Christmas music, had signed cards for everyone, and even gave a speech of gratitude!
This is truly an amazing group of kids to come up and pull this off all on their own. Throughout the night they all had comments about how at home they feel at OL, what a great place this is for them, and how much they love and appreciate the staff.
Wow - All I can say is WOW! I hope this kind of holiday spirit reaches each of you this season.”

"Libraries are no longer hushed reading rooms, but busy social hubs for the exchange of life skills and information. They have become community centers in the very best sense—places where we build community and weave together lives and dreams."
— Caroline Kennedy
